Sacraments
Infant Baptism
The classes prepare parents for the sacrament of welcoming their infant into the community of Jesus Christ. Parents of children up to age 6 and who are in need of Baptism are instructed on the meaning of baptism and the obligation attached to it. Please contact the parish office well in advance as classes are quarterly. Call the parish office, for more information and to find dates for classes.
Reconciliation and First Eucharist
With the positive influence of the parish community, St. Olaf parish welcomes families seeking First Reconciliation and First Eucharist for their catechetical age baptized children. We assist and reinforce parents in passing on our faith to their children by means of catechesis and ongoing support of Catholic home life. This program is offered in addition to their grade-level faith formation program. This program oversees and coordinates sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist for all children of the parish, no matter where they attend school. Parents of Children in 2nd grade that would like their children to receive First Eucharist should contact Terri Chang at (757)564-3819.
Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA)
OCIA is a gradual process by which the Catholic community welcomes, prepares and initiates through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist new members into the Christian life. Starting point is available anytime throughout the entire year in order to inform and form through presentations, faith sharing, Scripture discussions, prayer and ritual. It is designed for those: not baptized, baptized in the Roman Catholic Church and in need of Eucharist and/or Confirmation, and baptized in another Christian tradition and in need of further instruction and initiation. Please contact the parish office or Deacon Bob Kruse at

Christian Initiation for Children of Catechetical Age (CICCA)
Order of Christian Initiation for Children is a process for entering the Catholic Church. It includes unbaptized children above the age of seven, those baptized in another Christian denomination, and Catholics who did not receive instruction in the faith and seek the sacraments of First Communion and/or Confirmation.
